Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis
- Differentiation of glomerular and interstitial/tubular nephropathies.
- Only useful in case of increased U-P/C ratio.
- Not recommended if urine is contaminated with blood or if prostate cysts are suspected.
- Detection of Bence-Jones protein in case of suspected myeloma.
Please note that our urine electrophoresis has now been optimised:
- Through an updated methodology, it is possible to evaluate the proteins excreted in the urine in an even more differentiated way.
- All relevant glomerular and tubular proteins are differentiated and diagnosed, so that urine electrophoresis can indicate underlying disease even more specifically.
- Bence Jones proteins, which are diagnostic for the presence of multiple myeloma, can also be detected by this test.
