Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis is a gram-positive bacterium that belongs to the group of actinomycetes. It is the causative agent of pseudotuberculosis in sheep and
goats, which is associated with abscessed lymph nodes and which is widely distributed.
Pseudotuberculosis is becoming more and more clinically relevant in llamas and alpacas and can also be transmitted to other animal species (wild ruminants, cattle, horses, pigs)
and to humans.
