Koi Herpesvirus (KHV)
Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) is a highly infectious pathogen that has caused epidemic outbreaks in carp species—particularly koi and common carp—in recent years. Disease expression is closely linked to water temperature.
Morbidity and mortality rates can reach up to 100% within 1–2 weeks following introduction of the virus. The incubation period varies from a few weeks to several months, depending on external and internal factors such as water temperature, stress levels, and the overall condition of the fish.
Fish of all age groups are susceptible, with clinical disease typically occurring at water temperatures between 18–29°C.
