Invertebrate iridoviruses (IIV) are mostly found in insects. They are also regularly detected in lizards, where they may cause skin lesions. IIV detection may be of interest in cases in which increased mortality is noted in feed insect colonies or in lizard collections. Skin or liver can be used as samples for virus detection. In feed animals (e.g. crickets), the whole body is used for virus detection.
