Equus caballus papillomavirus (EcPV) is a group of viruses known to cause various skin and mucosal conditions in horses, and several types—specifically EcPV1, 3, 4, 5, and 6—have been strongly associated with aural plaques, which are keratinized lesions typically found on the inner surface of the ear pinnae.
