Equine Cushing is the most important endocrinopathy of horses. It is a typical disease of old horses and ponies as well as donkeys. Aetiology is a pars intermedia-hyperplasia of the pituitary gland. In equines only pituitary Cushing is of clinical relevance

Clinical Signs |
Clinical symptoms are: hirsutism, polydipsia/polyuria, weight loss with – at the same time – strange reallocation of adipose deposits, depression/lethargy, laminitis, insulin-resistance, immuno-suppression and hyper-hidrosis (pathologically increased sweating).
