This test is for the rare variants 'b4' , 'be' and 'bh'.
Australian Shepherd
The 'b4' is only found in few Australian Shepherd lines and so in this breed it would make sense to test for both the
B-Locus panel (bd, bc and bs) as well as for this variant. You can take advantage of our special offer 'second coat colour test at half price'.
Lancashire Heeler
The 'be' is only found in Lancashire Heeler and so in this breed it would make sense to test for both the
B-Locus panel (bd, bc and bs) as well as for this variant. You can take advantage of our special offer 'second coat colour test at half price'.
Husky
The 'bh' is only found in Husky and so in this breed it would make sense to test for both the
B-Locus panel (bd, bc and bs) as well as for this variant. You can take advantage of our special offer 'second coat colour test at half price'.
important note
Please note that when you order this test we will only perform the test for the variant that isrelevant to your breed. In Australian Shephered we will only analyse the 'b4' allele, whereas in Lancashire Heeler, we will analyse the 'be' allele.
The B locus is responsible for the presence of brown, chocolate, or liver coat colour. It is also responsible for nose colour. If the dog has two copies of any of several b alleles, its coat colour will be brown in the pigmented areas because the mutation dilutes the eumelanin to brown.
This test checks if the dog carries 0, 1 or 2 copies of the mutation typically responsible for the brown coat colour, which is also known in some breeds as liver, chocolate, chestnut, sedge, and less frequently, red.
