Autosomal-Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a genetic disorder characterized by the growth of numerous fluid-filled cysts in the kidneys.
This test is for a mutation named PKD2 that has been found in Neva Masquerade and Siberian cats.
Symptoms of PKD include anorexia, polyuria (excessive urination), polydipsia (excessive thirst), and lethargy. Blood tests may show mild leukocytosis (increased white blood cells), mild anemia, and severe azotemia (elevated urea and creatinine levels). Ultrasound can reveal significant enlargement of both kidneys with multiple cysts.
We also offer another test for PKD in other breeds
