GSD Breed Council DNA Profiling & Parentage Verification
We arere pleased to announce a new partnership between Laboklin, the German Shepherd Dog Breed Council (GSDBC), and the German Shepherd Dog League of Great Britain (GSDL). Together, we now offer a Premium DNA Profiling and Parentage Verification service tailored specifically for German Shepherd breeders and owners.
This service ensures accurate parentage records are maintained in a dedicated database managed by Laboklin on behalf of the GSDBC and GSDL. By leveraging advanced genetic analysis, it supports responsible breeding and contributes to the long-term health and integrity of the breed.
Requirements
- Use the official GSD Breed Council Order Form.
- Submit 0.5–1 ml of whole blood in an EDTA tube , collected by a veterinary professional.
(Veterinary signature and details must be provided on the form.)
- Sign the section of the form confirming that Laboklin may store the DNA profile and make it available for parentage verification on behalf of the GSDBC.
What You Receive
- Premium SNP DNA Profile
Based on the ISAG 2020 standard, offering a significant upgrade from the previous ISAG 2006 profile.
- DNA Profile Report
Includes genetic diversity metrics and key identifiers.
- DNA Profile Entry in the GSDBC Survey
Your dog’s profile will be securely recorded in the GSDBC database.
- Parentage Verification
Parentage is verified by comparing your dog’s DNA profile against potential parents already submitted to the GSDBC database.
Note: As this is a newly established database, successful matches depend on prior submissions.
- Genetic Variability Report
A graphical representation of your dog’s genetic diversity within the breed, helping breeders make informed decisions.
💡 Please note that after completing the DNA Profile, isolated DNA will be stored at Laboklin for five years and may be used for further DNA testing during that time. This allows breeders to request additional tests—such as screening for inherited traits—without needing to resubmit a sample.
Please note that this test does not check or verify the breed of your animal. For Breed identification please check our Breed Analysis
